Signs of Spring
Today the witch hazel outside our dining room popped: all at once it went from a few straggly, unnoticeable flowers to full bloom. The hellebores near the patio are also doing well--one is my most reliable sign that life will return again, and it's been going for a few weeks now,in clear view from the second floor hall as I go about my morning wake-up tasks. Finally, the sickly yellow daffodil leaves that poked their way up during the snow of the past few weeks are greening up now that the sun can reach them.

I kept thinking that this weekend presaged spring for us up here, too. Until I saw the forecast for Tuesday, with a high of 17 degrees. Sigh.
I keep meaning to find someplace to put some witch hazel.
Witch hazel is so worth making room for--it does so much for my spirits when it pops, and it has gorgeous fall color. Not so exciting in between, but it does have a nice shape.
So I deleted a comment that consisted entirely of a link to the poster's commercial site. I guess I gotta type up some guidelines for posting.
